This piece was a nightmare to do. This is what it looked like when I got it so started as usual and cleaned it really well but instead of priming it I thought I knew better and thought it was just stained with a transparent stain so I just painted right ontop.........WRONG! and I know so much better. Anyway what happens when you don't prime properly and you assume things you make BIG mistakes. The paint did not adhear to the piece so I had to sand the whole thing off and start all over.
It is way easier to do it right the first time.........
Anyway when I paitned it the grey and white and distressed it I hated the way the red looked when it showed thru. No matter what you do when you distress and there is a color underneath it will show. So i decided to do the piece black because red and black really look good together and I think it turned out great.
Way more work than I had to do if I would have just done what I teach constantly.......always always prime first.
